This Sunday, you all will gather together to worship (celebrate what’s worthy) around the brunch table in Halloween costume! Oh, I so hate to miss it!
You will include some elements from our usual order of service like lighting the chalice and taking up the offering. You will also enjoy your potluck brunch together and engage each other in conversation around starter questions provided for you.
The kids will do a different kind of Trick-or-Treat and take up items for the food pantry because it is really scary to be hungry. We’ll make sure there is some candy, too!
Halloween is a season for laughing at our fears and celebrating our resilience. All the pretending helps bolster our courage for the real scary stuff in life. Gathering for a Halloween celebration reminds us that we are not alone on our journeys, and that we support and are supported in community.
Happy Halloween, my Friends, and don’t spill syrup on your costume!
In wisdom and grace,
Rev. Ruth
