I brought Liam down with me last week, and in between fellowship obligations, we made it to the beach for a few hours. We also caught one of the Hobbit trilogy movies on the hotel TV.
It made me think of how the four of us used to pile in the bed together and Bill and I took turns reading to the boys, including The Hobbit by JRR Tolkien. I like this story about how a very small person unexpectedly saves the day! Smallness is terribly underrated in our culture. We are taught that bigger is better, and only the best will do! As we look toward the future of this small fellowship, please remember that it is ok that while your reach exceeds your grasp, there is much a small congregation can do to have a positive impact on the larger community. Hope and work for more, AND celebrate what you have and where you are! In Wisdom and grace, Rev. Ruth |
