April 17, 2020 – Notes from the Journey

The pollen is heavy. The pandemic news is dire. Leaders are making contradictory and confusing pronouncements. Isolation is demoralizing. Knowing the day of the week is a challenge. Anxiety about the future is overwhelming.

That’s the bad news.

Dedicated long suffering medical people. Faithful grocery employees, postal, delivery people. Intrepid public employees: police, EMT, Firefighters. Working farm people, truckers, and food processing personnel. Busy fast food workers. Overwhelmed hardworking medical researchers. Media people sharing the facts. Friends and family keeping in touch in creative ways.

That’s some of the good news.

Pretty safe to say that the COVID 19 pandemic is shaping up to be one of the most significant calamities of our age. Technology provides amazing communications links and information sharing and is revealing its impact worldwide. We can expect scientists will provide answers and resources to combat the disease. When is the question? It will take time. It is early but they are on it with extreme urgency.

Our responsibility is to deal with all the bad news noted above and honor the good news…observe physically distancing, stay home only leaving with mask and gloves for essential errands: grocery, drug store, doctor appointment, and drive thru food pickup. I’m taking a drive around a couple times a week to break up monotony.

Let us be patient and gentle with ourselves, stay in touch by phone and social media and keep up with reliable news. There is a future out there for us. We must move through to get there. Move with love. May the Spirit of Life energize our hope and power our endurance. We can do this. We must do this…

Give me a call if you’d like to talk.

Love, Doak
