Share the Plate August 2024

This month’s share the plate partner is the Okaloosa County Branch of the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People). The Okaloosa Branch is 75 years old and is guided by the national NAACP’s goals of eliminating racial disparities in all aspects of life, including social change, economic and environmental justice, and police reform. UUFEC is participating in “UU the Vote” — which encourages congregations to partner during the election year. The Okaloosa NAAPC is dedicating the next 100 days to our Get Out The Vote (GOTV) campaign. Its many other activities include opposing book banning in schools, advocating for justice in the recent shooting of Senior Airman Roger Fortson, and having an active youth advocacy wing.
