Overview of Social Justice at UUFEC
At UUFEC, we practice social justice in a spirit of love, as part of our UU values and principles. All are invited to walk with us on the part of the religious journey.
Community partnerships
We share our monthly “collection plate” donations and conduct donation drives with local partners who promote healing, justice and dignity. Some Local communities served and engaged by our partners include:
- LGBTQA individuals,
- low-income individuals (e.g., summer and back-to-school packets, prom outfits, food),
- veterans who have experienced trauma,
- people who are unhoused,
- people leaving abusive relationships.
Visit our Community Sharing page, for the full list of 2024 partners.
Civic engagement
We are engaged in the election in non-partisan activities. In partnership with UU the Vote, the Center for Common Ground and Yes on 4, we are helping to reach communities subject to voter suppression laws and advocating for limiting government interference with abortion.
Our Building
Our building is centrally located in our far-flung rural county. UUFEC hosts support groups meetings for PFLAG Niceville and recently held a county-wide “Yes on 4” post card event.
Inside our building, we are working to make a space that welcomes all. Current projects include improving bathroom signage and our nursing/pumping space.
We also maintain a a small food pantry outside our building on John Sims Parkway.
