Transitional times are tricky. Like the god Janus whose two faces turned in opposite directions, we keep trying to look back and focus on the past, and also to look ahead and get our bearings for the future.
We temporal creatures only live in one direction, traveling through time at the speed of one second per second. The longer we live, the further we travel away from the past and all that happened there, and the people we knew then, and the selves we were at that time. Our fellowship is moving toward significant changes, like it or not. It takes courage to embrace the journey toward the unknown, but whether we travel eagerly, resolutely, or kicking and screaming, we must proceed. So, my Friends, forward it is! (Please don’t kick me!) In wisdom and grace, Rev. Ruth |
